Being a New Mom
Every first time mom has anxiety about doing everything right for their newest little family member. They want to protect their new bundle of joy from sickness and harm. They want to provide the best care. They want to give enough love, support, and guidance to help them grow.
Every new mom struggles with figuring out what's normal or not normal for their infant. I have the added complexity of what's normal or not normal and... what's not normal and CF related.
A cough can make any new mom worry. Inconsolable crying can make any new mom worry. Changes in bowel movements can make any new mom worry.
I don't just worry. These common, maybe normal things, keep me up at night. I stress and I panic. Does a cough mean bacteria is growing in her lungs? Does the crying mean she's in pain? Does the change in bowel movement mean she's becoming pancreatic insufficient? I'm terrified that I won't recognize the signs or symptoms of a bacterial infection and something will go untreated.
Being a new mom is tough. Being a new CF mom is tougher. I know everyone has their own hardships and battles in life; Cystic Fibrosis is ours.
You're doing an amazing job at being a Mom...and a CF Mom at that! Sienna couldn't have a more strong, smart or determined Mom. You're doing great so don't ever doubt yourself. Xoxoxo
